Café de la Mañana

This cozy café created by a young couple-Naty, from Bogota, and Jan, from Germany-offers some of the best breakfasts in Cartagena’s historic center. With a well-balanced and varied menu, and of course a very good Colombian coffee, their friendly staff will receive you in a small, intimate space, located in one of the calmest streets of the very busy historic center.
The minimalist style of the Café de la manana contrasts with the generous portions of eggs, fruits, bruschetta, French toasts, breads, smoothies you can order to stock up energy before hitting the streets of the colonial center. And if you’re late for brunch or breakfast, you can still visit them to sit and sip a cold brew, or a frappe while cooling down during the hottest hours of the day.
Naty and Jan love Cartagena’s cultural scene and sometimes el Cafe de la manana hosts some exhibitions of local painters and photographers, acting like a pop-up gallery. The atmosphere of this place is definitely young, fresh and artsy but with a down-to-earth menu. It was spotted as one of the best places for brunch in Cartagena by the New York Times in 2023.
