De Indias Comedor & Copas

The new born in town! This restaurant, recently opened, is a lab whose chef, Jose Barbosa, is inspired by the diversity of Colombian cuisine roots. His food celebrates the local products and old traditions of Cartagena’s recipes, reinventing them into new bursts of flavors, textures and colors. Barbosa, praised as one of Colombia’s most creative chefs by Diners in 2022, is also, with two friends, the creator of the acclaimed Gin Selva, locally distilled, so trying the cocktails is mandatory.

The place is quite small, a few tables only, and they love serving family style dinner on long shared tables. You’ll discover new ingredients, while listening to the beats of a carefully curated Afro-Caribbean playlist, in a relaxed and young atmosphere. The only rules here are to share, drink and eat some of the most innovative dishes. Imagine a dessert made from a local sweet bread, stuffed with cream, and topped with a bright pink coating made with Kola Roman, well known Cartagenian soft drink ! Or indulge yourself with a dish whose smoky flavor is inspired by the Colombian tradition of cooking meals in a giant pot over a wood fire for all the family on weekends… Every item of the menu has its history. Get ready to be surprised!

De Indias Comedor & Copas is located at the entrance of Getsemani, two blocks away from the Clock Tower, in the middle of small local businesses still surviving in the busy, touristy city. Just walk through the Centenario Park, wave to the small monkeys who have chosen to settle here, and you’ll find it.

The upper floors host special live music venues (check on De Indias Instagram for the days) Reservation is recommended. For menu click here and Instagram for more details.
