La Vitrola
La Vitrola has been a staple for visitors fleeting to Cartagena ever since it opened. La Vitrola which translates to the “jukebox” in English is a place for friends and family to gather and soak in the vibrant Cuban culture which the restaurant succeeds to impersonate.
With live Cuban music, great Cuban cocktails (including a fantastic Mojito) and traditional Cuban food, you may easily forget that you are in fact in Cartagena and not it’s comparable counterpart to the North.
La Vitrola is more of an experience than an eatery and offers very simple, traditional Cuban food which is what it is, a meat, rice and beans sort of deal. This is the kind of place you go to live an experience and enjoy the traditional Cuban atmosphere, not dine on 5-star quality food.
Perfect for taking back a couple happy hour cocktails or starting off the night with a few rounds of drinks, great conversation and live entertainment. Keep in mind that the place has a strict dressed where men dressed in shorts and flip-flops will be turned down and children under the age of 15 are prohibited to enter.
If you have ever been to Cuba or take any interest in the country and its world renown culture we highly recommend popping into La Vitrola to see what all the fuss is about. Booking ahead is a good idea because like we said this is a popular place and fills up fast although the restaurant does not accept reservations during the peak high season (December 23rd – January 4th)
